The inaugural Air Force Run will take place in Winnipeg on May 31. The run has three main events – a 5K, 10K and half-marathon, plus a family fun run/walk. All races will offer points as grand prix events for the Manitoba Running Association. The event will include military fly-pasts during the run and part of the course takes runners onto the tarmac of an active runway, past a series of in-service aircraft. Proceeds from the race will go toward two charities, the Military Family Resource Centre, established in 1991 to help ease challenges faced by the families of military members, and Soldier On, which helps injured soldiers with services that help them take part in physical activities, recreation or sport.
