Ashton Eaton wears silly ice helmet, looks like Magneto

It may have been cold, but it wasn’t particularly cool.

Ashton Eaton, the world record-holder in the decathlon, showed up in Beijing for the IAAF World Championships after not having competed in the event since the 2013 world championships like he owns the place and wore this new Nike ‘Ice Hat,’ which is essentially an ice pack for your face.

We’ve see this before and Nike’s idea isn’t new:

Seemingly designed more for comic book characters, the company put the silly hat on the head of the man who closest fit that description.

No word from Eaton yet on if the helmet helped his performance but after the first day he led the event. Here’s hoping that on day two he doesn’t destroy the Bird’s Nest with his mind.Nike_Track_Cooling_Mask_GIF_V4_large-1
