Bolt to Run in Toronto

Jamaican superstar sprinter Usain Bolt will race the 100m in Toronto.

Jamaican superstar sprinter Usain Bolt will race the 100m at Toronto’s remodelled Varsity Stadium at a meet on June 11, his agent Ricky Simms has confirmed.

“This is a new meeting and we are very happy to participate and give the many Jamaicans living in Canada the opportunity to see Usain compete,” Simms wrote, in an email to Jamaican reporters.

Newspaper reports suggest Bolt could earn an appearance fee of $250,000 for the event, titled the Toronto Festival of Excellence. He will be accompanied by “a strong presence” of other runners, including Jermaine Gonzales, Xavier Brown and Mario Forsythe, according to Simms.

Bolt, 22, broke two world records at the Beijing Olympics, taking the 100m gold in 9.69 and the 200m title in 19.30, and also took home gold in the 4x100m relay.
