Boogie the dog, who rose to fame last week, has died.

The dog became an internet star after competing unannounced in the the Evansville Half-Marathon in Indiana.

The eight-year-old, 100-pound chocolate lab slipped off his leash the evening before the race and ran alongside registered competitors to a respectable 2:15 finish. He finished ahead of half the field and was awarded with a medal for his accomplishments.

Boogie was set to be neutered earlier this week, but it was posted by his family on Facebook last night that he had passed away as result of a heart attack.
