Canadian runners say hello to winter

Winter2016

For much of Canada, winter started a few weeks ago (Prairie provinces, we’re looking at you). As soon as Thanksgiving or Halloween passes, much of the country’s population starts thinking about extra layers, mitts and winter running shoes. This weekend, even milder climates were greeted by the first dumping of snow, confirming that yes, winter running is pretty much here.

In Ontario, parts of the Greater Toronto Area as well as towns off the Great Lakes and Georgian Bay were hit with snow. The Muskoka area got as much as 10cm in parts. Whistler, B.C. is expecting 15cm by Monday and even Vancouver will be hit, although runners there can expect just flurries.

But as our readers reminded us this weekend, running through the coldest season is not only a feasible option, it’s actually quite fun. They sent in their pictures showing moments of running through the winter wonderland in Canada this weekend.
