Canadian Running nets National Magazine Award nomination

Canadian Running ran away with a National Magazine Award nomination yesterday in the Sports and Recreation category for senior editor Alex Hutchinson‘s feature, “Stone-Age Stride,” from the July 09 issue. The article explores the latest research on the evolution of running, the biomechanics of the foot, the barefoot running debate and whether changing your running shoes or altering your stride can reduce running injuries. Hutchinson won a Silver Medal at last year’s National Magazine Awards for Canadian Running with his feature, “High Standards,” about the Canadian Olympic qualifying standards for distance runners.
