Feeling like the Bionic Woman

I’m sweating and my hands are shaking… but there was a big smile on my face!

This morning I ran another 5km of 1 minute sprints on the boardwalk… I hated it… but I loved it!

Finally the summer weather has arrived in Nova Scotia… so it was a scorching 24 degrees out this morning and I was feeling the heat and loving the sunshine. I knew I was working myself hard because the sweat was actually flying off my arms as I pumped my arms back and forth in the sprint… and though it sounds kind of gross… when you are “in the moment” it’s actually sort of cool… I kind of felt like the bionic woman.

Tonight I plan on trying to go back to bootcamp (first time in 2 months since my surgery)… often times we sprint so I figure these last two days will help me a bit. I’m sure within a couple minutes of the bootcamp I’ll wish I wasn’t there (just like I did on the first kilometre of my sprints this morning)… but by the end of class I’ll be proud of myself for making it through it and glad I pushed myself.

The feeling of accomplishment at the end of any hard workout makes all the pain and exhaustion worthwhile! The hard part is just remembering during the workout what the feeling is like when it’s over.
