The most tested U.S. track and field athletes in 2015

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released its fourth quarter test results with Galen Rupp being the most tested American athlete in 2015.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) released its fourth quarter testing results last week rounding out the 2015 annual statistics.

A total of 407 U.S. athletes were tested during 2015 with the anti-doping agency performing 1,202 tests. Not surprisingly, one of America’s top distance talents, Galen Rupp, was tested the most often, 21 times both in-competition and out-of-competition.

Rupp, the 2012 Olympic 10,000m silver medallist, was tested the most often in 2015 while Shalane Flanagan was tested the most among female athletes.

Both athletes train in Portland, Ore. with Rupp a part of the Nike Oregon Project (along with Canadian Cam Levins) and Flanagan a part of the Bowerman Track Club (a group featuring Canadian steeplechaser Matt Hughes).

Notable U.S. athletes were tested the following amount of times:

13: Nick Symmonds — world championships 800m silver medallist

14: Matthew Centrowitz — two-time world championships 1,500m medallist

15: Tyson Gay — previously served a ban for performance-enhancing drugs

16: Justin Gatlin — previously served a banned for performance-enhancing drugs

17: Shalane Flanagan — American record holder, 10,000m

21: Galen Rupp — 2012 Olympic 10,000m silver medallist

Rupp and Shalane Flanagan, the two most tested athletes during 2015, have never had a positive test for banned substances.

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports (CCES) controls drug testing in Canada.
