The Jorgensen-LeMieux family is expecting a new member in 2017 and that hasn’t limited the Olympic triathlon champion from putting in run mileage. Gwen Jorgensen, the Rio 2016 champion in the three-discipline sport, has run as much as 95K per week during her first trimester.

Jorgensen and Patrick LeMieux first announced on Jan. 19, 2017 that there would be an addition to the family. She’s expecting August 2017, one year after winning gold in Rio. She told Us Weekly that running helped curbed her nausea during the first trimester.

During full-fledged triathlon training, which requires balancing workouts across three sports, Jorgensen was doing less run mileage than during her first trimester. According to a post dated Jan. 30 on her blog, she increased sleep to 10-12 hours per night compared to her regular eight hours. She added that she feels best “when running.”

The 30-year-old American has been spotted running workouts with members of the Bowerman Track Club including Olympians Amy Cragg and Emily Infeld. The Bowerman Track Club also features Canadians Mo Ahmed and Matt Hughes. The triathlete is a standout runner debuting the marathon in 2:41:01 in New York City last fall.

Tried desperately to stay with these two Olympians on the track today for at least half of their session.

Jorgensen, while continuing to run and swim, has reduced her time on the bike. She’s not expected to do any triathlons in 2017. The triathlete will look to Tokyo 2020 to defend her Olympic title in a little less than four years time.

I now have to tuck in my shirt when I run so it doesn’t ride up. I’m getting bigger and slower every day ???❤
