Icing is Painful(ly boring)

There is no question... injuries suck... but hey think of it this way... it sort of proves you are an athlete!

In Photo: Me bored out of my scull icing my shins!

Icing is painful(ly boring)… tonight I iced for 20 mins and laid on the couch in complete boredom… in hindsight I guess I could have read one of my zillion running magazines while I iced (but for dramatic effect I figure this photo was more appropriate)!

I know from experience that if you get shin splints… ice seems to be the only natural quick relief. I run mostly on wood or gravel, so I’m fortunate to not have shin splints often… but for some reason the last 24 hours my shins have been painful to even graze… let alone touch. So tonight… a little voice (probably sounding either like Paulette or Sushu)… told me ice those shins… so I did.

It probably was the sprints I did yesterday… I only did 2kms of sprints and then ran the other 3km, because I could feel not only pain in my shins but my hip flexor had a pinch too… and for those of you who follow my blog… you remember how nutso I went when I couldn’t run because of my hip flexor injury last spring… I don’t want to go there again.

Reality is… maybe I’m just getting too old for sprints! 🙁
