Beijing, Aug 19, 2015 (AFP) – Kosovo and South Sudan were on Wednesday accepted as member federations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

With 211 member federations present at the IAAF Congress in Beijing — with Afghanistan and Iran absent, and Gabon suspended — Kosovo was voted in 187-13.

South Sudan received 192 votes for, with 12 against.

Members also upheld Gabon’s suspension, 133-63. The African state has been suspended after government intervention in its athletics federation.
