Lewis Kent wins Beer Mile World Classic

beerMile2

The best of the best beer milers competed in the Beer Mile World Classic yesterday evening in San Francisco. It was quite the event with pro chugger/runners dueling it out on the Treasure Island track.

In case you missed it, Canada sent a team to compete in the Flotrack sponsored event. That team was comprised of beer mile record holder Lewis Kent, Jeff Mountjoy, Phillippe Parrot-Migas, John Markell, Seanna Robinson, Courtney Powell and Lianne Girard.

Lewis Kent was the winner of yesterday’s beer mile winning in a time of 5:09. Behind him was Brian Anderson (5:14:7) and Jim Finlayson (5:16:6). In the women’s race, Caitlin Judd placed first running a 6:48:2. In second was Chris Kimbrough who slid in just under seven minutes with a time of 6:59:5. Lyndsay Harper came in third place in 7:05:6.

It’s been an interesting month in the beer mile world. The sub-five minute barrier hadn’t been broken until James Nielsen succeeded in doing so this year. From there, the record continued to fall and earlier this month, Australian runner Josh Harris temporarily held the record only to be beat again by Lewis Kent.

Kent’s record is 4:55:78.
