Man running 2,220 kilometres to Ellen studio for B.C. charity

On May 31, Curtis Hargrove will set out from Port Alberni, B.C. to run 2,220 kilometres to Ellen’s studio in California. He’s calling the run Hugginz Highway named after the local charity he’s supporting: Hugginz by Angel.

Hugginz by Angel was started by Angel, a girl with Down Syndrome who wanted to put her efforts towards making blankets to donate to sick kids in the hospital. She makes the blankets by hand in her Port Alberni studio and delivers them to the hospitals.

Hargrove is running to get Angel and her charity recognized by Ellen. They are hoping to get Ellen to even participate in the blanket making.

This isn’t the first time Hargrove has run for a good cause. In 2012, Hargrove ran across Canada to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital and has done a walk from Cold Lake to Edmonton as part of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to support women and children living in violent domestic situations.

For anyone interested in news of Hugginz Highway, regular updates will be posted under the hashtag #HugginzHwy.
