Not Since Moses race takes runners along sandy ocean floor
You would know if you’ve heard of Not Since Moses. This Nova Scotia race is unforgettable in part because of its quirky name but also because of the experience it offers runners.
Every year, those who sign up for the 10K or 5K race are treated to views of eastern Canada in Five Islands, N.S. while they run along sand bars when the tide goes out. It makes for uneven footing, sandy gear and a hilarious time with fellow runners.
This weekend, runners took part in the event running along the exposed sea bed. It was great conditions for running: sunny and 20C outside. First place in the men’s race was Matthew Ho who ran 39:26. Michael Vargo took second place running 39;37 and Rory Luxmoore placed third running a 43:49.
In the women’s race, Melissa Allen came in first place running under 40 minutes with her time of 39:26. Sarah Newton came in 11 seconds behind her with a 50:33 and Stephanie Barry placed third with a 51:09. For full results of both the men’s and women’s race, see here.
Of course, a race like this is a bucket-list experience and it also makes for fun social media shots. Here’s what the run looked like today:
