Ooh, baby – it’s a stroller-pushing marathon duel

I’ll be closely following this Sunday’s marathon stroller-pushing duel at the Williams Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa, Oklahoma between current record holder Michael Wardian and challenger Zac Freudenburg.

In 2004, Wardian watched me break the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon pushing a baby in a stroller at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, where I rolled my daughter Annika to a 2:49:43 finish. Three years later, Wardian smashed my record with a 2:42:21, pushing his son Pierce.

Now Wardian’s back with his second son, Grant, for a shot at his own record, but will face a tough adversary in Freudenburg, who won the GO! St. Louis Marathon in 2:23:57 and will be pushing his son Liam.
