Running for the cure

Now in its 17th year, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is a charity-run institution. This year’s 5K run or 1K walk takes place on Sunday, October 5 in 55 cities across Canada.

The run was founded by a group of CIBC employees in Victoria, B.C., who were inspired by a colleague’s fight against breast cancer, and decided to start a charity race to raise money to fight the disease. More than a million Canadians have participated in the Run for the Cure since its inception, and another 170,000 are expected to take part this year.

Registration costs $40, and there is no fundraising minimum required to participate, but if you raise more than $150, they’ll waive your registration fee. Visit www.cbcf.org for more information.
