Sharing the Fog and Mist

I've learned to enjoy the solitude of a run on my own because finding a compatible running partner seems to be almost an impossible task. Not only do you need to find someone who wants to run at your pace and distance, but for me they need to want to listen to music (not chat) and be available early in the morning close to where I live. Maybe... I'm being too inflexible and that's why I'm running alone!

I’ve learned to enjoy the solitude of a run on my own because finding a compatible running partner seems to be almost an impossible task. Not only do you need to find someone who wants to run at your pace and distance, but for me they need to want to listen to music (not chat) and be available early in the morning close to where I live. Maybe… I’m being too inflexible and that’s why I’m running alone! LOL!

Luckily I have a few friends who on occasion can make it out with me and when it turns to be on a Friday run… well that is perfect because that run tends to be the hardest one of the week (especially when the weather sucks).

Katrina is probably one of my more elite athlete friends (if there is a sport… she’s into it)… so on the occasion that Kat calls me to ask if I want to go for a run, first off I’m flattered and secondly I am always game because I know she “pushes it” everytime.

This morning was definitely the perfect day to have someone to share the fog and mist with on the boardwalk. Kat loves running hilly trails (that’s one of the reasons why she’s so much fun to run with) but the good friend that she is, she understands right now that I’m restricted to the flat boardwalk and even though she knew she’d probably go mental by running circles (which I think she did) she agreed to it anyway. What a trooper!

In addition being a great running partner (meeting (actually exceeding) all my criteria)… Kat also comes with all the cool gear that I can’t afford. Check out her watch!!! I have serious watch envy… it has GPS, it calculates our pace on the fly… and it looks like it possibly could dock the space shuttle or at least operate the Canadarm!

The purpose of this article is to give props to Katrina… for making my Friday run that much more enjoyable and helping me push through the boredom of the boardwalk… one more week until I see the surgeon… then hopefully *fingers and toes crossed* it’s back to the hilly trails for me!
