Canadian team announced for the 2017 IAAF World Championships

Athletics Canada today announced the team list for the upcoming IAAF World Championships in London. The biennial championships take place Aug. 4-13 and will feature some of the best runners in the world.

Canada had a successful world championships in 2015 in Beijing winning eight medals including two global titles. London 2017 will be the first senior global outdoor championships in which Glenroy Gilbert, the new Athletics Canada head coach, leads the team.

Nine individuals currently sit in the top-10 in global rankings along with one relay team. The top-two athletes, with their event’s qualifying standard, from the Canadian Track and Field Championships earned automatic team spots. A national committee determined whether a third athlete in an event would make the team.
