The Vancouver Sun Run on Wednesday registered their millionth entrant in the historic race.

The largest running event in Canada, which sees nearly 40,000 finishers in a given year, saw Ivana Ciccone, a teaching assistant at Corpus Christi school in Vancouver.

“We told her she was the millionth registrant since The Vancouver Sun Run’s inception in 1985 and she was delighted,” stated Patricia Wu, Co-Chair of The Vancouver Sun Run.  “We wanted to do something special to mark the occasion because 1,000,000 registrants is quite an achievement and is symbolic of how much the BC community has embraced The Vancouver Sun Run.”

Ciccone was given a special “1,000,000” bib number for the race, a Toshiba flatscreen TV, a VIP race package and a night at the Hyatt Regency.

This year marks the 30th year of the Sun Run.
