New ultramarathon series launches on Animal Planet

The newest series on Animal Planet is all about three humans.

100 Miles From Nowhere aired for the first time on Sunday evening. The new eight-episode series is about three ultramarathon friends from Utah who travel to some of the world’s most remote locations to run, hike and climb 100 miles over the course of three to four days. Since a traditional film crew can’t keep up with the three runners, the entire show is self-shot with small cameras they carry with them. The crew survives off bear drops every 25 miles.

Matt Galland, Danny Bryson and Blake Josephson are the three stars of the show. The three have worked together on Matt’s YouTube show, Matt in the Wild, which caught the attention of Animal Planet. The new television show is being produced by the same team as Naked and Afraid on Discovery Channel.

“There comes a time when you wonder what the hell you’re doing, and why you’re doing it,” said Josephson in a release about the filming new series.

Each episode will air at 10 p.m. EDT on Animal Planet.
