Ashton Eaton accepts stair-jump challenge and crushes it

Ashton Eaton, the world record holder in the decathlon, gave stair-jumping and it should come as no surprise that he destroyed it.

Ashton Eaton owns the decathlon world record and is considered the world’s greatest athlete as the Olympic champion in the 10-discipline event. It’s no surprise that the American has hops too.

After Norwegian sprinter Ezinne Okparaebo jumped 29 stairs in six jumps (including 28 stairs in five jumps), Eaton, peer pressured by U.S. Olympian Andrew Wheating, accepted the challenge to match the feat of Norway’s fastest ever woman.

At historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Eaton managed to jump 36 stairs in a matter of six jumps, one-upping the achievement that Okparaebo managed five days earlier.

If the stair workout is any indication, Eaton will most certainly be a threat for gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio which begin on Aug. 5.
