Gordy Ainsleigh on his first Western States 100

Gordy Ainsleigh was the first person to run the Western States 100 Trail Ride in 1974 when the event was a horse race and he didn’t have a capable horse. The race has become one of the most prestigious 100 mile endurance foot races in the world and more people have now finished the course on foot than on horseback.
