Frothy coffee

Frothy coffee

Frothy coffeeAgainst the assumptions my childhood self had of the person I would grow into, I love mornings. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee mixing with the hilarity of a new episode on the Rob Watson Show. If you haven’t already, check these guys out.

The comforting taste of piping hot coffee tastes exponentially better in the morning. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s from the caffeine content as I usually opt for decaf versions; I just love the taste. But the monotony of a mug of regular brewed coffee with a splash of milk can get a little stale. This morning I had a wave of creativity. I’m often hesitant to act on all my creative urges. They don’t always pan out, but today felt different.

After grinding my coffee beans, I threw them into the French press with boiling water, and let it brew as per usual. Once I poured it into my favourite mason mug and added some milk, I wasn’t as excited for that initial glorious gulp. A light went off. What if I threw this into my Nutribullet to try and froth it up? Magic happens, that’s what. It worked out perfectly. The blending of the coffee and milk somehow made my coffee taste smoother, creamier and more wonderful than usual. It was a simple change, but an incredible solution to the pour-over coffee routine. Plus, throwing it into the blender means if other taste enhancers have been added (honey, sugar, chocolate, cinnamon etc.) they will be mixed evenly so that last gulp of java isn’t sickeningly sweet.
