Science of Running talk in Guelph on Tuesday, March 6: running form, minimalism, and more!

Just wanted to give a quick plug: I’m going to be appearing tomorrow (Tuesday) evening in Guelph along with national-team physiotherapist Brenda Scott-Thomas. We’re each going to speak, from our respective perspectives, about biomechanics, minimalist training, proper running form, and injury prevention. My focus will be on what the scientific evidence says so far about questions like:

  • – How do most people currently run?
  • – Is there a specific way we should run, either to get faster or be injured less?
  • – What’s the best way to change the way you run?
  • – How does your shoe choice affect speed and injury rates?

There have been some really exciting new studies over the past few months, so I’m excited to have a good discussion about what the new findings mean for us as runners. The talk is free, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Best Western in Guelph. Hope to see some of you there! More details at this Facebook event page.
