Win my aspirational pants and other giveaways

Stop by and say hi at the Ottawa Marathon Race Expo and you could win... big time. And oh, the Ottawa Marathon play list is here!

Day 121 of 130
Ks covered: 926
Ks to go: 176
General mood: Still anxious
Running highlight: 16K race pace taper run
Equipment status: I’m finally over my fear of running in sleeveless shirts
Body status: Still congested – fighting a bit of a cold!

Alright, I have a confession to make.

I didn’t buy just one pair of size 8 shorts when I was in NYC… I bought four (the complete mum spectrum – Light blue, black, light khaki, dark khaki… I was excited okay?). Or so I thought. This morning I went to put on the dark khaki pair only to realize they were mis-tagged. Yes, the store tag (the one with the price on it) said 8, but the inner label says…2!!!! (which is actually more like a 4 in real-life) Burn on me!

So, instead of leaving them in my drawer until Milli Vanilli makes a comeback, I thought I’d send them to a good home where they may get to see daylight… I’ve decided to give them away… to one of you.

Speaking of giveaways, I’ve ordered 10 couchtokenyan.com running shirts that will, fingers crossed, arrive at my house before race day. So here’s the deal: I’m going to be at Canadian Running Magazine’s booth at the Ottawa Marathon Race Expo from 10am-12noon next Saturday May 29. Stop by, say hi and write down the goal time for your race (full, or half marathon, 10K or 5K). Post-race, e-mail me with your time. If you make your goal, or better yet, beat it, I’ll put you in a draw to win one of eight shirts (four for the gals four for the guys). If you don’t make your time, e-mail me too…you will be entered in the ‘it’s the effort that counts’ draw, where you could win one of two shirts. And, for the person who sucked it the most? A homemade Margaret Atwood doll and a signed, (by me) copy of Crazy-Haruki’s book, What I Talk about When I Talk about Running, and yes, completing the package, you get my brand new, never worn, almost-gender-neutral, size two shorts. Prize goes to the best reason for under-achievement, judged by me.

What could be more inspiring than that?

In other news, the Ottawa Marathon Medley is now complete and uploaded to iTunes. Thank you all so much for helping me create this wicked-awesome five-hour-long playlist (had to have some cushioning in there, in case it’s me who ends up winning the Atwood doll). I couldn’t put all the songs in… and, I’m afraid, electronica, very heavy metal and Nickelback were the first to go. Ahh, diversity…so over-rated.

You can find it – and buy it – here.

If you like my blog, drop me a line and I’ll add you to my mailing list to let you know when updates are on the site. Don’t worry, your e-mail address will be safe with me and my best Nigerian banker friends.
