5 Spring jackets that look awesome and will keep you dry

Getting suited up for spring? Here are our five picks for cute and functional jackets that will bring you through April showers.

You know what they say: April showers bring May flowers. But while you’re waiting for the beauty of spring to kick in, it’s more than likely that you’ll have to get your feet– and the rest of your body– a little wet on these April runs. For that, runners need to stay protected from the elements. We rounded up five of our favourite waterproof and water resistant jackets that will keep the water from putting a *damper* on your run.

Columbia Outdry Extreme Eco Jacket: $279.99

Is this the most environmentally friendly jacket on the market? Columbia sure seems to think so. Before this number hit the rack, they had their testers stand under waterfalls because they claim that it’s 100 per cent waterproof too. In the making of this jacket, the brand uses recycled water bottles, zero dye and they have eliminated harmful chemicals from their production. In other words, if you care about the environment which you run in, this may be your go-to.

Nike Shield Jacket: SALE $119.97

This one is form-fitting, slick and just looks good (it’s Nike, are we really surprised?). Right now, it’s also on sale. We love it when brands use basic black and grey tones because, well, it matches everything. Runners who take a look at this one will notice that the material on the back is lighter than on the front– say goodbye to that nasty sweaty back feeling.

Saucony Sonic Reflex Jacket: $159.99

Dress to match the hues of the tulips popping up from the ground this spring. This one certainly adds a pop to any runner’s outfit which is quite appropriate for spring. It’s light and airy and yet it will keep the rain from spoiling your Wednesday training run. Saucony seems to also be keeping style front in their minds with their latest lines. We feel that this piece of gear serves a functional purpose but also looks good at the same time. That’s key.

Under Armour Run True: $114.99

Zip this one of for a spot-on spring look. This is the jacket you wear when making an appearance at a new running group for the first time. Hey, we dress to impress even if we’re planing on getting red and sweaty…

Reebok Women’s Studio Favourites Dye Or Die: $85

This jacket made the cut this week purely based on its thick drawstring laces and it’s translucent versus solid white colour blocking. When it comes to investing in athletic apparel, most runners want to get multiple uses for it (unless you have a different jacket for every activity in your life… in which case, congrats.). Yes, this is a great one to grab for the morning 10K, but runners can also feel confident throwing it on on top of an outfit for a rainy day coffee date. That’s just practical.
