Puma to launch Fast-R 2 Nitro Elite–the ultimate race-day shoe

German running powerhouse Puma has announced the release of its fastest carbon-plated performance shoe to date–the Fast-R 2 Nitro Elite. Rumour has it that this shoe can shave “minutes” off your marathon time.

The brand says its new race shoe offers a remarkable 22 per cent increase in energy return compared to the original Fast-R Nitro Elite. This translates to a lighter and more efficient ride, with calculated time savings of at least 2 minutes 28 seconds for a 3:30 marathoner and a minute 23 seconds for a 2:30 marathoner.

The race shoe builds on the success of its predecessor, the Fast-R, boasting the revolutionary Nitro Elite foam technology and delivering the maximum allowable stack height of 40 mm, providing the athlete with speed and cushioning from the 5K to the marathon. The key features include the two-part midsole and the exposed signature PWRPLATE, a carbon plate that extends through the foam and beyond the toe, making sure you’re getting the benefit of the plate, no matter where your foot strikes.

Another major change to the shoe is the upper, which is 20 per cent lighter than the previous version. The Fast-R 2 will have a psychedelic design complemented by the customized PWRTAPE lining. The outsole ensures maximum multi-surface traction, instilling confidence for runners to conquer speed on all race surfaces.
