Asics just made a Seinfeld-inspired shoe
This new Packer Shoes x Asics GEL-Lyte V GTX “Scary Cold” collaboration is loosely inspired by a memorable episode from the sitcom "Seinfeld."
Runners familiar with George Costanza’s Gore-Tex jacket from a memorable Seinfeld episode may recognize the latest Asics and Packer Shoes collaboration.
Loosely inspired by an episode entitled The Dinner Party, the Packer Shoes x GEL-Lyte V GTX “Scary Cold” features black leather throughout the heel and burnt orange suede on the upper. The GEL-Lyte V GTX is a retro twist in Asics’s lineup with the GTX standing for Gore-Tex as it can handle tough winter conditions. The Japanese shoemaker is one of the more popular brands that runners reach for when selecting either training or racing footwear.
The “Scary Cold” name of the collection, which notably includes the Asics kicks, references a line from the episode. The show that ran from 1989 to 1999 is one of television’s more popular sitcoms.
