Under Armour RUSH Experience highlights UA’s latest gear line

We spent a weekend experiencing UA RUSH, Under Armour's newest apparel line

Last month Canadian Running was invited to experience Under Armour’s newest apparel line, UA RUSH, at the Women’s Reboot Retreat at Muskoka’s Touchstone resort. The overnight event brought together young female entrepreneurs, influencers, UA Ambassadors, industry professionals, wellness coaches, travel bloggers, fitness experts and magazine content creators to experience the incredibly comfortable UA RUSH line.

After a delicious lunch, Dan McDonogh, UA’s senior manager of training, walked us through the science behind the RUSH campaign. McDonogh has worked with elite athletes such as Canadian marathon record-holder Lanni Marchant and 2018 NCAA heptathlon champion Georgia Ellenwood, who’s from Langley, BC. “UA RUSH is the fabric version of an infrared sauna,” McDonogh told us. “The objective is to recycle the body’s energy during performance.” McDonogh explained how a great technical fabric can make a huge difference to our movement and recovery.

McDonogh also highlighted how important the quality of our sleep is for maximizing the gains we aim for in training, and how the place where we sleep should be like a sanctuary–free from distractions like electronics, noise and light. UA’s recovery sleepwear is designed to improve the sleep sanctuary and help optimize recovery.

Following the UA RUSH presentation, participants got to enjoy a nutrition session by Sylvie Tétrault and a circuit training workout by Jennifer Rochon, aka The Ro Show, a Montreal-based fitness expert and UA ambassador. Rochon led the ladies in an intensely fun circuit workout in our new UA RUSH gear. Then the bus headed back to the resort so the ladies could shower, eat, and recover. The evening was very relaxing as we headed to a chalet for appetizers, live music and some informal networking.

On day two, after a restful sleep in our cosy UA RUSH sleepwear and decked out in our new UA RUSH tank tops and leggings, we enjoyed a healthy breakfast before heading to a performance-mindset yoga, meditation and goal-setting session with UA ambassador Janey Brown.

Following the hot yoga sessions the ladies were bussed back to the resort for a session entitled Healthy Social Media. The focus of this presentation, by Let That Sh*t Go co-authors Nina Purewal and Kate Petriw, was how social media affects us mentally, and how to deal with the things we can’t control, such as the weather, other people’s behaviour, or the death of a beloved pet.

The final session of the weekend was the “Feel the RUSH Experience,” the objective being to have fun and do something outside our comfort zone. This was led by special guest Jessie Graff, a professional stuntwoman, Ninja Warrior and Under Armour ambassador. Graff is one of the top competitors on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, breaking stereotypes as she continues to break records. The girls learned how to leap over obstacles, stunt fight and fall dramatically.

In addition to the UA RUSH collection clothing, we used the UA Tribase Reign shoe for our gym circuit workout, the UA Hovr Sonic 2 for the more cardio-based session with Jessie Graff, and the UA Ignite VIII Slides, which were the perfect recovery shoe for our leisure time.
