The Big Sur International Marathon shows off its stunning scenery
Top shots from the Central California race along the Pacific Ocean.
Nestled along the coast of California, is the well-known Big Sur International Marathon which drew a large crowd of runners on Sunday.
With the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop, thousands of runners participated in the late-April marathon. The event also features a unique aspect for some brave runners: the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge, which combines both the results from Sunday as well as those from the Boston Marathon 13 days earlier. Big Sur Marathon weekend annually features a 3K, 5K, 10.6-miler, 21-miler and of course, the 42.2K marquee event.
