VIDEO: Ontario Grade 9 800m winner drops one of the best kicks you will ever see

Plenty of gasps in the crowd as Abdullahi Hassan changes gears and leaves his competitors behind at the OFSAA Championships

OFSAA Midget Boys 800m

Abdullahi Hassan, who calls himself more of a 400m runner, produced one of the highlights of the 2017 Ontario high school track and field championships. The Birchmount Park Collegiate (Scarborough) student shifted gears with ease with 200m to go in the Grade 9 boys 800m final on Saturday.

Joe Fast, the winner of the 1,500m at the OFSAA Track Championships, was leading the race until Hassan unleashed his kick. He was the only one of the eight finalists to break the two-minute barrier running 1:59.92.

Hassan won a silver medal in the Grade 9 400m on Friday running 50.44.
