Beer Mile World Classic who’s who: Jeff Mountjoy

Noted beer miler and veteran of the Queen’s University track and field team, Jeff Mountjoy is off to San Francisco this weekend to compete in the Beermile World Classic

mountjoy beer mile

Beermile Nickname: Mounty

My pump up song is: “Romantic Rights” – Death from Above 1979

My favourite beer is: Muskoka Mad Tom IPA
My favourite workout is: About three years ago, I did a track workout during a thunderstorm. It was extremely heavy rain but it was warm, I was in great shape, and the intervals were fast pace. I always love speed intervals and the danger/excitement of the thunder added to the fun.
My running hero is: Billy Mills. I get goosebumps every time I watch him win the 10,000m gold in the 1964 Olympics. He overcame a lot of adversity to surprise a lot of people.
If I could only run one route for the rest of my life it would be: Loops of Lemoine Point Conservation Area in the West end of Kingston. I love running through those sorts of trails, and there plenty of variety with the terrain and loops to choose from. I never get tired running there and I always feel fast.
Finish this sentence “When I run I _____”: “When I run I… like to imagine myself running elite-caliber races and being able to control the pace.”
What’s harder than a beer mile: The Highway 2 McDonald’s Challenge!
