Bread and Honey race offers free flight as draw prize

Bread &Honey start 2014The Bread and Honey Road Races will celebrate their 37th edition in 2015 but one lucky participant will celebrate even more by winning a grand prize draw for a free flight to anywhere West Jet flies.

B&HFinishThe 5K and 15K road races take place in the historic village of Streetsville in Mississauga. The event is an official part of the Streetsville Bread and Honey Festival which attracts tourists and guests from near and far.

The races take place near Streetsville Secondary School which hosts all pre- and post-race amenities including restrooms, bag check, a generous buffet and the grand prize draw. The courses are flat and fast. The 2015 race will follow a slightly modified route for the 15K. Also back by popular demand are commemorative bumble bee finisher medals for all participants.

The grand prize draw and awards are presented around 10:15 a.m. in the school gymnasium. Winners must be present to claim their prize and the contest is open to everyone registered in the 5K and 15K races. The grand prize draw is a free (no taxes or fees) return flight for two to anywhere West Jet flies.

The Bread and Honey Road Race is a completely not-for-profit event with 100 per cent of race fees going to charity. The 2014 Bread and Honey race raised $22,000, of which $15,000 was donated to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation (Credit Valley Hospital) and $7,000 to the Peel Caring Network for Challenged kids.

The event is set to take place on Sunday, June 7 at 8 a.m. Registration is ongoing but participants can save $10 by signing up before April 30.
