Miles Misner-Daley of Hamilton, Ont. set a new OFSAA, provincial, and national record Friday in the 400m in a time of 45.99. Misner-Daley shattered the old U18 400m Canadian record of 46.79.

For context, Misner-Daley’s new personal best would have ranked him second in Canada last year overall.

Misner-Daley was last year’s OFSAA 200m junior champion. He has now moved up a distance and age group, competing this year at the 400m in the senior division. Both grade eleven and twelve students compete against each other in the senior age category, making the races very competitive.

In other OFSAA news, Marcel Sheele defended his OFSAA title to win the 2,000m steeplechase for the second year in a row. Sheele won in a time of 5:52.53.

In the men’s blind 100m dash, Austin Ingram of Petawawa, Ont. defended his title to win in a time of 11.65.

On the women’s side, Jocelyn Chau  of Toronto won the 1,500m in a time of 4:24.18. She was followed closely by Cameron Osmond in 4:26.52. Chau will attend Yale University in the fall.

Day three of OFSAA gets underway tomorrow with the intermediate hurdles at 9 a.m. followed by 800m heats at 10:30 a.m.
