Oslo Diamond League 2019 preview

Watch Canada's Crystal Emmanuel, who has already qualified for the world championships in the 100m, do the same in the 200m today in Oslo

Crystal Emmanuel, 27, of Scarborough, Ont. will attempt a world championships qualifying time in the women’s 200m at Oslo, Norway’s Bislett Games today. Emmanuel already secured a place for herself in the 100m with her 11.19 performance at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland on Tuesday. She will race the 100m again at Rabat Diamond League on Sunday.

Emmanuel, who won a silver medal in the 200m at NACAC last summer in Toronto with a 22.67, ran 23.14 in her season-opener 200m in Stockholm last month, but she needs to run 23.02 today in order to qualify for worlds.

Emmanuel is the only Canadian in Oslo today for the Diamond League events, but there will be plenty of other action for track fans to enjoy, including US superstars Sydney McLaughlin and Dalilah Mohammad in the 400m hurdles at 2:03 p.m. ET, Britain’s Lynsey Sharp in the women’s 800m at 2:16 p.m. ET and Henrik Ingebrigtsen and the US’s Ben True in the men’s 3,000m at 2:25 p.m. ET.

Emma Coburn will go head-to-head with world record-holder Beatrice Chepkoech in the 3,000m steeplechase at 3:10, Canada’s Crystal Emmanuel races the 200m at 3:41 (the Netherlands’ Dafne Schippers and American Gabrielle Thomas are also in that race) and Jakob and Filip Ingebrigtsen race the Dream Mile against Americans Clayton Murphy and Johnny Gregorek at 3:51.

All events will be live-streamed on cbcsports.ca starting at 2:00 p.m. ET.
