The world’s biggest running event, Red Bull Wings for Life World Run, is back on May 7, 2023, connecting thousands of runners from all over the world. For the first time in four years, the event will take place both virtually and in person, across eight Canadian cities. The 2023 Wings for Life World Run has also introduced fun new updates, with NSYNC’s Lance Bass as the catcher car and full Strava integration to enhance the running experience.

What is it?

Wings for Life World Run is different than other races and events in that participants don’t have to run a precise distance. A virtual catcher car follows you on the Wings for Life app for 30 minutes after the start, slowly overtaking participants until no runner remains. The run takes place in 19 countries around the world at the same time and will be broadcasted live on the Red Bull TV Facebook page.

Each runner will not only be running for themselves, but they will be helping find cures and treatments for spinal cord injuries. One hundred per cent of the entry fee goes toward spinal cord research.

This year, there will be a recognizable figure voicing the Wings for Life World Run catcher car via the Wings for Life app, Lance Bass of the 90s boyband NSYNC. We can only assume he will use the famous “Bye, Bye, Bye” punchline after he catches runners.

How to sign up?

To sign up and participate in the Wings for Life World Run, download the Wings for Life app from Apple or Google Play store. From there, you can register for $31 and choose to partake in an in-person run nearby or run individually. A unique component of the app is the immersive experience, which informs, motivates, and entertains runners throughout their run.
