See which Canadian marathon was named one of the world’s best races
Forbes released its "Top 12 Races Worth Travelling For" recently and the BMO Vancouver Marathon was named as the only Canadian race on the list.
Vancouver is considered one of the most scenic cities in Canada, if not the world, thanks to the combination of beaches, mountains and greenery. The city provides an ideal backdrop for a marathon and was recently listed as home to one of the races named to Forbes‘ list of “Top 12 Marathons Worth Travelling For”.

The BMO Vancouver Marathon, to be held on May 1, was named to the list for the third consecutive edition dating back to 2012 and 2014. This year marks the race’s 45th anniversary and will attract runners from more than 50 countries, according to Forbes.

The 42.2K marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier, is considered one of the most prestigious races in the world and takes runners around Stanley Park, across 12 neighbourhoods, with 70 per cent of the course featuring shoreline views.

The race has added a 2.5K walk as part of the weekend, which also includes a half-marathon an 8K and a marathon relay, to promote participation.
