Shia LaBeouf runs Metamarathon art project

Shia LaBeouf Metamarathon

Movie star Shia LaBeouf, known for having starred in Transformers (and, of course, Even Stevens) was the main attraction in a performance art show in Amsterdam that saw him, clad in purple tights, run 144 laps around Stedelijk Museum, the city’s modern art museum.

LaBeouf, who titled the art performance #metamarathon on Twitter, completed the run in a relay with two other artists who were invited to the event by the museum. He wore the bib number 1337.

While LaBeouf and the other two were running, the Metamodernism Symposium was going on inside the museum. The website reads “[What] is this metamodern state of mind precisely? As the speakers inside the Stedelijk debate these questions and more, actor Shia LaBeouf will embark upon an actual (#meta)marathon around the perimeter of the museum.”

The actor didn’t explain what he was doing before the appearance at the museum, but gave a few hints that some event was planned in the week leading up to the run on his Twitter account. He ignored reporters while warming up for the run.
