Top Canadian results from the 2020 NYC Marathon

The strongest Canadian results from the 2020 virtual NYC Marathon

Like almost all other races, the 2020 NYC Marathon went virtual this year. While some local New Yorkers still ran the course (or an abridged version like Des Linden in the final run of her #RunDestober challenge), many others participated in their hometowns from all over the world. On the women’s leaderboard, American marathoner Steph Bruce is currently topping the charts with her 2:35:28, which she ran in Flagstaff, Ariz., at altitude. On the men’s side, British runner Kevin Quinn ran a 2:23:48 to take the top spot. While Linden wasn’t looking for a personal best over the weekend, she did complete her Destober run challenge with a 31-mile run in New York on Saturday that took her through the original NYC marathon course that runners would’ve traveled from 1970 to 1976, when the course switched to the five boroughs.

At home in Canada, thousands of runners took to the streets to do their own marathon with the help of a few teammates and friends. Congratulations to everyone who ran the race, and here’s a look at the Canadians who ran to top finishes.

Note: these results are from the event’s Strava leaderboard, which only includes the hometown of those who are public Strava users. If you’re a Canadian with a private account who finished in the top 10, please let us know.
