10 signs that your running buddy is your BFF

10 signs that your running buddy is also your BFF

Many of us have that one person that we love to run with and can’t imagine our lives without.

Two Runner women running on mountain road in beautiful nature1)   They automatically know the type of day you’ve had based on the speed of your run (they also know whether or not to ask about it).

Sometimes, life tells you that a run needs to be a jog. This friend is always willing to plod when you need to.

2)   They are willing to serve as your bathroom-break lookout and you actually feel guarded.

If you’re caught in a bathroom emergency without them, you feel like you’re taking a much bigger risk slinking off the trail.

water bottle3)   You know their favourite flavour of Gatorade because they’re always willing to share.

Even if you’re a red person and they’re a blue person, you don’t hold it against them.

4)   You wear each other’s clothing (but not each other’s shoes).

Actually, you should probably return that pair of gloves you’ve had since last winter.

marathon sign5)   They have woken up early on a weekend to wave a silly sign on the side of a race course.

It made you go faster.

waffles6)   They understand that brunch is the most important meal of the day.

There is no hunger like post-long run hunger. It’s nice to have someone order as huge of a stack of waffles as the one you’re craving.

7)   Silence isn’t awkward, but appreciated.

You love chatting, but it isn’t necessary for the entire run.

8)   You have a bucket list of places to go together.

Even if you don’t end up going everywhere you dream of, the runs that start with “Can you imagine if we ran a race in the Bahamas?” are always fun ones.

9)   They push you past your comfort zone.

You look at your watch and realize that you couldn’t have done that pace without them. But they would never bring that up.

10) They are truly happy to see you succeed.

That post-race congratulations is sincere and you know it.
