From the outside looking in, running seems pretty simple – it’s one foot in front of the other for as long or as short as the runner chooses. How could anything possibly go wrong? As it turns out, there are plenty of ways to make a fool of yourself mid-run.

Wardrobe malfunctions

Hopefully you never experience the wardrobe malfunction, but if you do, know you’re not alone. 

Bathroom breaks

If you’re running a race on the longer end of the spectrum, chances are you’ll end up taking a bathroom break. Unfortunately, sometimes there’s no comfortable way to bathroom break mid-race. 

When non-runners just don’t get it

There are also times when you don’t think you’re doing anything out of the ordinary, but you can still be heckled by a non-runner for a fairly normal running practice.

Post-marathon fatigue 

Extreme fatigue can lead a runner to do and say some outlandish things. 

Mistaking another runner for your friend

You’re out for a run, and you see your buddy. Chances are you’re pretty excited because it’s fun to run into someone you know mid-run. But until you’ve confirmed that it is in fact your friend, stay away from mocking the other person.
