A woman’s report of being followed by a pickup truck while she was out for a run in Lethbridge, Alta., on Sunday night has led to criminal charges against a 37-year-old man and concerns there may have been other victims involved in similar incidents in the city.

At around 8 p.m. Sunday, a 32-year-old woman was running along Mayor Magrath Drive South. When she turned east along 6 Avenue South, she spotted a distinctive white truck following her; it was driven by a lighter-skinned male with dark-rimmed glasses. The vehicle pulled up ahead of her and stopped.

As the woman continued running, the same vehicle pulled up in front of her and stopped again. As she passed, the vehicle slowly drove by her, then stopped. The driver did the same thing a fourth time and continued to follow her as she turned down another street. When the woman encountered a group of people, the vehicle left the area and she was able to return home safely.

The woman had snapped a photo of the vehicle, which she shared with the Lethbridge Police Service when she reported the incident that night. The driver was soon identified and was arrested without incident at his home in the north end of the city at around 10:40 p.m.
