Results of celebrities, notable participants at the New York City Marathon

Sunday’s New York City Marathon, the largest event of its kind in the world, featured some great performances including Canadian Lanni Marchant’s seventh-place finish. Further back in the pack were a number of notable runners who, although not well-known for racing, competed in the New York City Marathon.

The list of notable runners include famous soccer player Raul as well as Sean Astin who plays Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. For a complete recap of the event, including the notable Canadians, Marchant, Marilyn Arsenault and Rob Watson, see our earlier report here.

All names and descriptions are courtesy of the New York Road Runners, the organization that puts on the TCS New York City Marathon. Many of the highlighted runners were running in support of charity.

– Former National Football League running back with the New York Giants.

– 2013 Wimbledon Singles Champion.

Cynthia Erivo – 3:57:07
