On Tuesday morning, Coros announced its latest partnerships with Eliud Kipchoge and the NN Running Team. The California-based company is only four years old, but it just landed a pair of the biggest contracts available in the world of running, beating out other well-established companies that have been producing watches and other gear for decades. The Coros Pro Athlete Team already features an impressive list of runners, including Boston Marathon champion Des Linden and ultrarunning world record-holder Zach Bitter, but Kipchoge and the NN Running Team (which, along with Kipchoge, includes some of the best runners in the world) add even more depth to the lineup.

The Coros slogan is “Explore perfection,” which company CEO Lewis Wu says is a “perfect fit” with Kipchoge’s personal mantra of “No human is limited.” The two do mesh quite well, as Kipchoge has run seemingly perfect races before in his quest to find and surpass his limits, including his historical sub-two-hour marathon in Vienna in 2019. “Eliud is perhaps the greatest runner of our generation, if not all time,” Wu said in a Coros press release. “A talent like his does not come around too often, and we could not be prouder to partner with such an inspiring athlete.”

Coros was founded in 2016, but the company didn’t release its first watch until 2018. Despite being so young, the company’s watches have already seen several world records. With Kipchoge (who owns the fastest official and unofficial marathon times) and the rest of the NN Running Team (which saw four world records broken in 2020 alone) now signed on with the company, it’s almost a guarantee that Coros watches will be worn for more world records in the coming years.

Kipchoge has said he will be working closely with the development team at Coros, giving them feedback to help “enhance the running experience for runners all around the world.” He continued, saying, “I support the development of the sport and believe that watches can help us obtain crucial insights into our training. I hope our partnership will add a new dimension and bring joy to people’s
running experience.”
