Canadian Half-Marathon Championships go off in Calgary
Kip Kangogo and Rachel Hannah win the Calgary Half-Marathon which doubled as the Canadian Half-Marathon Championships
It was a jam-packed weekend across the country with a pair of national championships on the line.
The Calgary Marathon hosted the Canadian Half-Marathon Championships on Sunday morning as part of the busy Alberta race weekend. To celebrate the nation’s 150th, the event hosted the Confederation 150K, along with the 50K, marathon, 10K, 5K and kids run.
Guelph, Ont.’s Rachel Hannah and Lethbridge, Alta.’s Kip Kangogo won the Canadian Half-Marathon Championships by virtue of winning the Calgary Half-Marathon. Geoff Martinson was second while Olympian Dylan Wykes was third to complete the men’s podium. Emily Setlack and Melanie Myrand were second and third in the women’s race.
Kangogo ran 1:06:27, with a seven-second margin on Martinson, and Hannah ran 1:17:16 bettering Setlack for the win by 50 seconds.
