Beer mile may be added to Tokyo 2020 schedule: Report
The beer mile, which involves consuming four beers over the course of 1,609m, may be added to the next global championships in Tokyo.
With the global rise in the four-beer, four lap event known as the beer mile, the ever-growing sport may be added to the leading international sporting event. There are already two global championships for the beer mile, the FloTrack World Championships and the Beer Mile World Classic.
The announcement comes exactly one year after the organizers for the Rio Olympics considered hosting a treadmill marathon instead of a road marathon saying that it would be less costly and easier than fixing the roads. That concept was not put into place.
The addition would likely increase Canada’s total medal count in athletics. Three of the five top-ranked men’s beer milers are Canadians including world record holder Corey Bellemore, who now runs for Adidas. Lewis Kent, the former world record holder in the event, is also sponsored, running for Brooks. The top Canadian in the women’s beer mile is Kirsty Jahn, seventh all-time with a 6:38.

– Beer two-mile (eight beers, eight quarters)
– Joggling beer mile (run a beer mile while juggling)
– The Ben and Jerry’s 4×4 (Four pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream – 300+ calories/serving, four miles)
