Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire’s record label, Merge Records, is branching out a bit for their 25th anniversary.

Merge will be hosting a 25K point-to-point race as a celebration for the event. It’s scheduled for March 22, 2014, and the route will run from Chapel Hill to Durham, N.C., where Merge got their start to the headquarters now.

And there will of course be music, including many of Merge’s signed artists performing live, to mark each mile of the race. It will all conclude with a big community party and concert at the finish line.

The race is going to be capped at 1000 entrants, but the party and concert at the finish will be open to anyone.

Merge will be raising money for the local Habitat for Humanity and food bank, and will be run in conjunction with the Bull City Running Company, a local running store.

The whole event may be worth a trip for the concert alone.
