BC Sports Hall of Fame opens Sun Run exhibit

The Vancouver Sun Run will be featured this year at the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

There will be a Vancouver Sun Run exhibit at the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

The Vancouver Sun Run turns 30 this year and the BC Sports Hall of Fame is putting on a Sun Run exhibit to showcase the colourful history of the event and it’s history of improving fitness in Vancouver and across the province.

The exhibit opened on Wednesday, March 12, and will remain open for the next six months.

Among other displays, there will be a memories wall, where runners and community members are invited to write their fondest memory from the Sun Run’s 30-year history. All the age-group trophies will be on display and there will be a T-shirt for every year of the race. The Sun Run shirts in recent years have been some of the most interesting in the country, being designed by Canadian artist and activist Tiko Kerr for the previous 10 years.

The exhibit will also show a video montage of race footage.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame is open seven days per week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Runners who have competed in the Sun Run will be given half-price entry to the Hall of Fame if they can produce a race T-shirt or bib as proof.

The Sun Run’s 30th birthday will be on April 27th when the race is held this year.
