Melissa Bishop, Geoff Harris return to Francophone Games for Team Canada

Marie-Ève Dugas of Laval, Que., a 100m hurdles specialist, will carry the Canadian flag and lead the team in tomorrow’s opening ceremony. Athletics competition runs from Sept. 10 to 14.
Several world championships medallists headline the Canadian team, including high jump bronze winner Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., 4x100m bronze-medallists Dontae Richards-Kwok of Mississauga, Ont. and Segun Makinde of Ottawa, Ont. as well as Curtis Thom of Ottawa, Ont., who won gold at the IPC World Championships in the T53/54 wheelchair classification 4x400m relay.
Returning athletes from the last edition of the games in 2009 include 800m runners Melissa Bishop of Eganville, Ont. and Geoff Harris of Halifax, N.S., Kyle Nielsen of Langley, B.C. in the javelin, and hammer thrower Heather Steacy of Lethbridge, Alta.
At the last Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon, the Canadian team came away with 20 medals – five gold, five silver and 10 bronze.
