What’s the most gruelling race you’ve run? It’s probably not as difficult as the Desert Challenge is going to be.

The Trasomania and Transarabia desert races across Oman and Jordan will lead to a longer and more difficult race yet to be announced. The three events together are known as the Desert Challenge.

Entrance to the final race requires a runner to have competed in the Oman or Jordan events, which are scheduled for Jan. 26, 2014 and Nov. 9 2014 respectively. Each event can be run as a 100K, 200K or 300K non-stop events and runners must be self-supported.

The event is being hosted by Lost Worlds Racing and Raid Sahara.

The Tranarabia starts at the Dead Sea in Jordan and will cross the Negev Desert of the Middle Eastern country ending at Aqaba on the Red Sea.

The Transomania will race south from Muscat, Oman, across the Wahiba Desert to the southern coast of the Arabian peninsula. The final stage crosses through 145K of sand dunes before reaching the ocean.

Each race also offers the option of completing it in a relay format over 200K or 300K. Over 200K, the relay must be finished in 75 hours and the 300K relay must be finished in 100 hours.

More details about the final race will be released early next year.
